Twin Bed Deionizer (DI) Calculators

Twin Bed DeionizerIndustrial Water Solutions offers four industrial twin bed deionizer sizing calculators and guides, including those for pharmaceutical, chemical and petrochemcial, oil and gas and boiler feed and power generation. These calculators can be used as a guide for several market segments for industrial twin bed deionizer (DI) sizing to help you find the right size and give you rough specifications for a DI system. The links below go directly to the DI calculator pages.

Proper industrial water deionization (DI) saves energy and makes processes run more smoothly by producing water of high ionic quality but does not remove bacteria or endotoxins.

Twin Bed Deionizers remove both cations and anions, releasing hydrogen ions (H+) in exchange for the former and hydroxyl ions (OH-) for the latter. The hydrogen and hydroxyl ions then combine to form pure water.

Like softeners, deionizers have a finite capacity for ion exchange and the costs of regeneration can be substantial. The higher the level of water supply ionic contamination, and/or the greater the water consumption rate, the higher the cost of deionization. For applications with high Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) that don’t have a lot of small or submicron particle (Industrial Reverse Osmosis Systems may be better suited to reduce TDS.

Our calculators will help you determine the volume of water that may be deionized based upon the deionizer capacity and recommend a deionizer model based upon your Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and Flow Rate (GPM) with 48 hours (or whatever time interval you choose) between regenerations.

For several industries like health care, food and beverage and pharmaceutical, water purification plans will follow deionization purification with equipment that removes bacteria and/or endotoxins such as UV Systems and Sub Micron particle filters.
