Electro-Deionized (EDI) Water Treatment Skids
What is Electrodeionization (EDI)?
Electrodeionization (EDI) is a process that utilizes electricity, ion exchange membranes, and resin to deionize water and separate impurities from water. When fed with water that has low TDS (total dissolved solids), the resulting water can achieve high levels of purity. For comparison, see all types of industrial deionizers including those that utilize chemicals.

What is Continuous Electro-deionization (CEDI)?
Continuous Electro-deionization (CEDI) differs from Electro-deionization (EDI) in that the electric current regenerates the resin mass continuously. As a result, CEDI can achieve very high levels of purity.
Does EDI utilize chemicals?
No, EDI is a chemical-free process that relies upon electricity.
What are the applications of Electro-deionization (EDI)?
Industrial applications of EDI include water for pharmaceuticals, electronics, and power generation. Most commonly, EDI may be used as a polishing treatment for the water produced by reverse osmosis.
What are the advantages of Electro-deionization (EDI)?
Electrodeionization (EDI) eliminates the need for hazardous chemicals and thereby avoids the production of hazardous waste.
How does Electro-deionization (EDI) work?
Electrodeionization (EDI) works by passing water between an anode and a cathode. Ion-selective membranes allow the ions to separate from the water with the result being high purity water.
Overview of our EDI Electro-Deionized Water Treatment Skids
Our skids that utilize the electro-deionization (EDI) process provide cutting-edge industrial water deionization treatment that produces ultrapure water. Our electro-deionization skids use ion-exchange resins via a DC voltage potential to remove contaminants (cation and anion) from your feed water supply.
Then ion-selective membranes are used to continuously remove these contaminants via a small concentrate stream. The voltage applied across the cell allows for constant regeneration without chemicals, wastewater neutralization or disposal, or shutdown time. This can make this a useful alternative to traditional industrial deionization systems.
